Over the past few years, consumer behaviors have taken a definitive swing, directing their focus towards practicing sustainable and eco-friendly living. No longer considered as niche, the trend of sustainable living is mainstream — changing the way we sleep, eat, spend, and interact with the environment. The movement is rooted in an evolving consciousness of the planet’s desperate needs in light of recent and continued damage due to climate change, pollution, and waste.

“Green” Products — Consumers are increasingly demanding products, services, and experiences with positive environmental and social impact to facilitate a more secure future for everyone. This article provides a history of the personal care market and a blueprint and various examples of how organisations can produce more sustainable consumer goods.

A commonly seen consumer trend promoting organic living is someone who advocates or emphasises the word “help” or “be kind”. These individuals are typically aware of the worldwide global status — from plastic pollution of the sea to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and over 8 million tons of plastic that have found themselves way back to the ocean in barely a year. This had a major impact on the promotion of the eco movement, while leading to significant changes in consumer demand for takeaway cuisine. That’s why you see businesses adapting by introducing circular economy models, refillable products and eco-friendly packaging.
