Pakistan Domestic Cricket: A Rich Legacy and Evolving Landscape

The history of cricket in Pakistan goes to the British colonies days and does not begin immediately after Pakistan’s creation in 1947. Cricket was brought to the present day Pakistan by British who colonized British India and the territory that is now Pakistan. However, cricket has been embraced as a significant part of the nation’s culture today with many people supporting the sport and domestic cricket leagues.

Early Beginnings and Milestones

The inaugural first-class cricket match of the modern era on the territory of Pakistan happened in Karachi on 22 November 1935 between Sindh and Australia. This historical event was watched by at least 5,000 Karachiites and they could realize that the two leaders were poles apart.
Some of the accomplishments of Pakistan cricket are in terms of; The Cricket World Cup, which was won back in 1992, ICC T20 world cup that was in 2009 and the ICC champions trophy that was won recently in 2017. They have also won ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup two times in 2004 and 2006 and ACC Asia Cup in 2000 and 2012.
